Philippe Starck’s W.W. Stools (student work)

Tracing the form of both W.W. Stools with #2 pencils solidified “reflection” as the concept for this visual-only interpretation. Images of both stools were brought to a vector form and simplified based on shadows for the stool in the background and brightness for the stool in the foreground.

Philippe Starck’s Louis XX Chair

Two contrasting materials — blown polypropylene and polished aluminum — are featured through a positive + negative visual relationship, complimentary colors and overall scale and placement. Research on Philippe Starck was the inspiration for the color orange and the + glyph.

Jasper Morrison’s Plywood Chair

Simplicity and austerity are differentiating factors of Morrison’s designs. Observation led to an association between material and shape: the back of the chair and a wood knot. Most of the process was dedicated to vectorizing a knot.
